“No way!” That was Sara’s initial reaction when her husband, Noel, suggested leaving their east coast home for Oklahoma. Sara had visited a number of U.S. cities in the past and wondered what Bartlesville could possibly have to offer her. She was not excited. Little did she know, she was coming home.
Welcome to Bartlesville. Here, amidst inviting parks and cozy shops, waits a taste of the city. Flourishing business districts, classy entertainment and a quality education system all find their place within a sophisticated, family-friendly atmosphere. This is not the small rustic town you were expecting.
Bartlesville is home to such major corporations as ConocoPhillips, Schlumberger and Siemens Applied Automation. These, and similar businesses that operate on a national level, find great advantage in Bartlesville’s centralized location within the U.S. On a smaller scale, Bartlesville hosts a thriving business community in the downtown area, where a number of small operations have found great success and restored buildings await new enterprises.
When in search of quality entertainment and culture, Bartlesville offers an array of attractive options. Frank Lloyd Wright’s Price Tower houses the Price Tower Arts Center, with a variety of both traveling and permanent art exhibitions, and The Copper Restaurant and Bar, which offers an elegant dining experience. West of Bartlesville is the renowned Woolaroc Museum and Wildlife Preserve. Here, visitors engage regional and national history through art exhibits, free-roaming wildlife and period reenactments. Finally, the Bartlesville Community Center, which boasts superb acoustics and internationally recognized art displays, hosts a number of performances throughout the year. Regular performances include the Bartlesville Choral Society, Bartlesville Civic Ballet, Bartlesville Symphony Orchestra and Broadway in Bartlesville. The Community Center also hosts a number of performances for the annual OK Mozart Festival, including symphonies, operas and chamber orchestras.
One of a city’s defining characteristics should always be a quality education system. In primary education, Bartlesville High School has graduated more National Merit Semi-finalists than any other high school in Oklahoma and several students have obtained Academic All-State achievements. For those in search of higher education or degree completion, Bartlesville is home to Oklahoma Wesleyan University, a four-year liberal arts university, Tri-County Technology Center and the Bartlesville branch of Rogers State University.
I invite you to come home to Bartlesville. Don’t believe that a small town cannot offer you the delights of city life. In Bartlesville you can find education for the future, business success and of course, excellent entertainment. All of these contribute to an exceptional quality of life that only can be found in this unique Oklahoma town.
